Celtic's Neil Lennon "philosophical" about defeat

Neil Lennon does not blame his Celtic players for their defeat to Greenock Morton on Tuesday.

Celtic manager Neil Lennon has refused to blame his players for their 1-0 extra-time defeat to Greenock Morton in the Scottish League Cup on Tuesday.

Dougie Imrie's penalty in the 97th minute was enough for the Hoops to suffer the defeat at Celtic Park in the third round of the competition to the Scottish Championship outfit.

"I have got to be philosophical about it," Sky Sports News quotes Lennon as saying. "It wasn't for the attitude or want of trying in the game.

"It just wasn't our night for whatever reason. The only disappointment for me is we had 26 corners and we didn't convert one of them with the height we had in the team.

"We have to take our chances. We ended up putting Virgil van Dijk up [front] to give us something different and certainly we created a lot more."

Celtic are currently second in the Scottish Premiership table with 16 points from six matches.
