Fans demand Stiliyan Petrov testimonial

Aston Villa fans have called for the club to set up a testimonial for Stiliyan Petrov.

The Bulgarian was diagnosed with leukaemia last week and the Villa faithful are keen for a match with Celtic.

Both clubs paid tribute to Petrov during their weekend games and Villa fans from the 'My Old Man' Facebook page want a pre-season friendly against the Scottish club.

A letter from the supporters' group said: "Money from the fixture could be raised for a major leukaemia charity of Stan's choice. One fan had the idea of making the ticket price £19 in tribute to Stan's shirt number."

Petrov has made 218 appearances and scored 12 goals since joining Villa in 2006.
