Half-Time Report: Cardiff City, Everton level at the break

Cardiff, Everton on level terms

It is goalless at half time in the Premier League game between Cardiff City and Everton.

Leighton Baines whipped in an early cross but Marouane Fellaini was unable to make any contact with the ball.

Another chance fell to the Toffees after 10 minutes, this time through Steven Pienaar's free kick that found Ross Barkley. However, the latter's shot was deflected wide for a corner.

Cardiff came close next as Peter Whittingham's corner almost curled in at the near post, but Tim Howard made the save.

Kevin Mirallas then had a decent chance from a Baines free kick, but he headed over.

The Belgian international was involved again, connecting with Nikica Jelavic's pass, but he failed to trouble David Marshall in the Cardiff goal.

Cardiff's Gary Medel brought down Baines in the box just before half time, but the referee Anthony Taylor waved away the appeals for a penalty.

Jelavic then forced Marshall into strong save.
