Paul Robinson signs new Burnley contract

Burnley goalkeeper Paul Robinson has put pen to paper on a new one-year contract at Turf Moor.

The 36-year-old had been on a short-term deal following his arrival in January, but will remain part of the squad for the Clarets' first season back in the Premier League.

Robinson struggled to break into the first team, but was second-choice keeper behind Tom Heaton following an injury to Matt Gilks.

Manager Sean Dyche told the club's official website: "We are delighted to have Paul back on board. He continues to work hard at his profession and his wealth of experience is hugely beneficial to the team and, in particular, the goalkeeping department.

"Our other goalkeepers, especially the younger ones, will continue to improve while Paul is with us and we look forward to working with him again this coming season."

Robinson has had spells at Leeds United, Tottenham Hotspur and Blackburn Rovers during his career, making more than 400 appearances.
