Edgar among four Burnley players released

Newly-promoted Burnley have released four players as they prepare for life in the Premier League next season.

Long-serving defender David Edgar, who was part of the Clarets squad when they last played in the top flight in 2009, is one of the quartet that will not have their contracts renewed now that the season has finished.

The former Newcastle United man made 114 appearances during his five-year spell at Turf Moor, while Keith Treacy, who made nine Championship starts this term, is also being allowed to move on.

A club statement read: "Burnley football club would like to place on record our thanks to the quartet for their efforts and contributions to the club, and wish them every success in their future careers."

Brian Stock and Nick Liversedge are the other two players who will be looking for new clubs this summer.
