Peter Crouch signs a short-term deal to return to the Premier League with Burnley.

Peter Crouch has signed a short-term deal with Burnley to resume his Premier League career at the age of 38.

The veteran striker, who celebrated his birthday yesterday, links up with Sean Dyche's side on a contract that runs until the end of the season.

Crouch has a wealth of experience across England football and has amassed 205 club goals in 729 career appearances for the likes of Liverpool, Tottenham Hotspur and Aston Villa.

The former England international has been with Stoke City since 2011 and made the drop down with them to the Championship over the summer.

Speaking at a press conference earlier today, Dyche said of Crouch: "Peter is a character who will fit in well here, with the club and the fans. He still has something to offer, and has scored goals everywhere. He's effective and has done that at every level, domestically and internationally. There's an all-round package in there.

"There's no issue about his fitness and I think he has an intention and a desire to still make a mark in football. We know what a good character he is and he still has that edge. We know he's an effective footballer and he has a hunger to come here and make a mark."

The agreement also sees Sam Vokes move in the opposite direction on a three-and-a-half year deal.
