Burnley's Matthew Taylor hopeful of maintaining survival record

Burnley winger Matthew Taylor is optimistic that he can continue his run of avoiding relegation with the Clarets this season in their final five matches.

Burnley winger Matthew Taylor is hopeful that he can continue his run of avoiding relegation from the Premier League in his 10th season in the top flight.

The 33-year-old has previously escaped the drop into the second tier in his spells with Portsmouth, Bolton Wanderers and West Ham United.

However, Taylor's record is under threat as the Clarets currently sit bottom of the table with just five games remaining in their season, but he is optimistic that his side can defy the odds to secure their survival.

"I'd like to keep that stat," Taylor told reporters. "If I could keep relegation off my CV, that would be wonderful. I believe with the players we have there, there's no reason why that shouldn't be the case.

"Obviously I'm under no illusions, having experienced before how hard it is. But we've got enough quality in that dressing room, coupled with the work ethic, to get ourselves further up the league."

Sean Dyche's men play Leicester City at Turf Moor later today.
