Ross Wallace close to Burnley return after knee surgery

Wallace close to Burnley return

Ross Wallace is almost ready to return to first-team action for Burnley after surgery on a knee injury which has kept him on the sidelines since August.

The Scottish winger is expected to feature in all 90 minutes of the Clarets' Lancashire FA Senior Cup quarter-final against Oldham Athletic at Turf Moor this evening.

Wallace has featured twice for the Under-21 development squad and is hoping that a full run-out tonight will see him back in contention for a place in Sean Dyche's first team.

After topping the table for much of the first half of the season, Burnley are now 11 points adrift of league leaders Leicester City after four wins in their last 14 matches.
