Dyche: 'Back-to-basics approach worked'

Burnley manager Sean Dyche has hailed his side's "authentic performance" to beat Everton 2-1 at Turf Moor on Saturday afternoon.

The Clarets were second best for large parts in Lancashire, seeing their opponents test Tom Heaton on a number of occasions but fail to beat the England stopper.

Twice Burnley scored against the run of play, including in the final minute of the match through Scott Arfield's well-taken strike, and Dyche was quick to praise his players' back-to-basics approach following successive defeats heading into the match.

"It was a good performance, a very authentic performance," he told BBC Sport. "We went away from what we're good at in the match at Southampton, I thought, and we had to remind our players we build on the basics here.

"We know we have to work for everything we get and I thought that was on show. The two goals though, they were both real quality. We go to take the game on and give a performance, that was the key thing.

"We know if we get that right we've got a chance of getting something. This is a difficult place to come. We've made it that way over the last few years, and we want it to continue of course."

Burnley, who return to action next weekend with a trip to face Manchester United at Old Trafford, find themselves 14th in the Premier League table.
