Uganda top Group B after winning start

Uganda have got their African Nations Championship campaign off to a winning start by beating Burkina Faso 2-1 in Cape Town.

Cyrille Bayala's 88th-minute goal proved to be nothing more than a consolation, as a Yunus Sentamu brace ensured that Uganda topped Group B following the opening round of matches.

Milutin Sredojevic's side took the lead after 15 minutes courtesy of a defensive error in the Faso backline, which Sentamu took advantage of.

Denis Iguma was played through on goal moments later, but the captain failed to double the Cranes' advantage as Charles Kabore made a good save.

Africa Cup of Nations finalists Burkina Faso did find themselves two behind in the second half, however, with Sentamu converting a Lacina Traore cross.

The Stallions managed to pull a goal back through substitute Bayala, but Uganda held on for the victory and top spot in the group.
