Bristol City 3-5 Blackburn Rovers

Blackburn Rovers move top of the Championship with a 5-3 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

Jordan Rhodes scored twice for Blackburn Rovers as they moved top of the Championship with a 5-3 win over Bristol City at Ashton Gate.

It was the home side who started the better and they took the lead after just one minute when Albert Adomah converted from close range.

Blackburn were not without their chances, however, and Jordan Rhodes fired straight at Tom Heaton with 10 minutes on the clock.

Chances remained few and far between as the half approached the 30-minute mark - but Blackburn were level after 28 minutes when Rhodes produced a cool finish inside the box.

The away side began to dominate proceedings as the half approached its latter stages, but the two teams remained level at the break.

Jon Stead had the first chance of the second period for the home side, but he headed wide of the target from close range.

Blackburn completed the turnaround 10 minutes into the half, however, when Nuno Gomes struck from close range after smart work from Rhodes.

The home side were level after 70 minutes, however, when Stephen Pearson struck a powerful effort into the back of the net.

Both sides had chances in the latter stages, but it was Ruben Rochina who sent Blackburn into the lead with a fine finish after 81 minutes.

The home side were not finished, however, and they levelled it moments later when Sam Baldock converted from close range.

There was time for two more goals, however, and it was Scott Dann who converted from close range to move Rovers 4-3 ahead - before Rhodes scored his second late on.
