Steve Cotterill: 'Bristol City showed character in Ipswich Town draw'

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill believes that his side showed great character to earn a point against Ipswich Town in their Championship clash at Portman Road.

Bristol City manager Steve Cotterill has said that his side showed great character to earn a point in their Championship clash with Ipswich Town on Saturday afternoon.

The Robins came from 1-0 down to lead the match for most of the second half, thanks to goals from Luke Freeman and Jonathan Kodjia, before the Tractor Boys snatched a late equaliser through Ryan Fraser.

Cotterill's side currently sit bottom of the Championship table having won just one fixture this season, but he believes that his side showed they have the quality to compete in the league.

"They showed a lot of courage not to let their heads drop and they showed fantastic character," Cotterill told the Western Daily Press. "We have winners in our dressing room and they showed that.

"The last thing you want to do when you come to a place like Ipswich is go behind and that is what happened. We spoke about that before the game and the boys did really well to come back and get their noses in front.

"When you fall behind and you are tired and cannot raise a gallop, like last week against Reading, you need to score first. But the lads were fresher this week and were able to respond."

City will take on 23rd-placed MK Dons on Saturday, October 3.
