Ashley Barnes is pleased with the quality of player that has joined Brighton & Hove Albion already this summer.

Striker Ashley Barnes has praised manager Gustavo Poyet for the signings that he has made already this summer.

The boss has managed to tempt Wayne Bridge, Tomasz Kuszczak and Bruno to the Amex Stadium, while more attacking additions are expected to follow soon.

Discussing his side's latest recruits, Barnes believes that there is now plenty of competition for places in the Seagulls starting lineup.

"I welcome people coming in as it is good competition for all the lads and we have all got to fight for our places because nobody is secure in this team," he told the club's official website.

"The signings that the gaffer has already brought in are fantastic. To work alongside them is going to be something that everyone wants to do."

Barnes netted a hat-trick during Brighton's 5-0 win over Maidstone United yesterday afternoon.
