Brentford sign Philipp Hofmann

Brentford have announced the signing of striker Philipp Hofmann on a three-year deal.

The Germany Under-21 international, 22, joins the Bees for an undisclosed fee from FC Kaiserslautern.

Manager Marinus Dijkhuizen expressed his delight over the acquisition and hopes to see Hoffman dovetail well with fellow forward Andre Gray.

He told the club website: "Philipp is a target man, physically strong, and a good header of the ball. His style of play is similar to mine when I played.

"He is a different type of striker to Andre Gray, so it gives us more tactical options. Philipp is only 22 so can still improve his game."

Hofmann could make his debut in Saturday's friendly with Stoke City at Griffin Park.
