Mark Warburton: "Sloppy" Brentford punished by Millwall

Brentford manager Mark Warburton hails the character shown by his side to battle from two goals behind to claim a 2-2 draw against Millwall at Griffin Park.

Mark Warburton believes that Brentford's late rescue mission to secure a draw against Millwall on Saturday could prove to be a "crucial point" in the club's push for promotion.

A struggling Lions side found themselves two goals to the good at Griffin Park with just five minutes left on the clock, before Alex Pritchard and Moses Odubajo found the net late on to clinch the Bees a 2-2 draw.

Despite Brentford now finding themselves outside the playoff zone with seven games of the season left to play, Warburton is confident that the spirit shown by his side will help them cross the line.

"We were way below our normal level," he is quoted as saying by West London Sport. "We were sloppy at the back and in creating chances. We've got technical players, but we were launching the ball into the box too much.

"To keep going until the end again shows the character and the type of people we have in this squad. That's a very valuable point at this stage in the season. Come 2nd May, we'll look back on games like today and be thankful we got something."

A trip to local rivals Fulham at Craven Cottage is up next for the Bees.
