Tite praises impact of Richarlison after Everton forward scores winner

Brazil defeated Cameroon 1-0 in a friendly in Milton Keynes.

Brazil boss Tite lauded the impact of Richarlison after the Everton forward struck in the 1-0 friendly win over Cameroon in Milton Keynes.

Neymar went off in the early stages and Tite afterwards would not discuss the groin injury for the Paris St Germain playmaker. Brazil said Neymar would be assessed by PSG, who play Liverpool in the Champions League on November 28.

Richarlison came on in his place, heading in on the stroke of half-time for his third goal on his sixth appearance for the Selecao.

Tite said: "I was not surprised by Richarlison's performance. What I saw today was the continuation of him always coming on and playing well for Brazil.

"In his first game he really impressed with his incision and his finishing, both his head and on the floor.

"I've also seen him play on the wing for Brazil and play really well and because of his qualities in training we can also imagine him playing as a second striker as well.

"He's someone who's really impressed me since coming into the team."

Neymar barely featured, seeking treatment on the touchline after five minutes and collapsing for further treatment a minute later after firing high and wide.

There was little sympathy from a 29,669 crowd – a record footballing attendance at Stadium MK – as the £200million play-maker was booed off.

Cameroon's Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting, who left Stoke for PSG last summer, spoke with his club mate as he was undergoing treatment.

"I talked quickly with him but it was just after the injury. I think, I hope he will be OK," Choupo-Moting said.

"He had an injury and felt something. It was his adductor I think.

"I hope for him it's not that serious. You have to be careful. If you feel something there you shouldn't risk it."

Choupo-Moting admitted Neymar would be a big loss for PSG if ruled out of the Liverpool match.

He added: "Of course it would be worrying, because he's a very important player. No player's more important than the whole team, but we need him. We hope he's not injured for a long time."

Cameroon host next summer's African Nations Cup and boss Clarence Seedorf was pleased with his side's display.

Seedorf said: "I'm very proud of the team, of their performance.

"It's not an easy task. This gives us a lot of confidence for the future.

"We'll not play a better team than Brazil until CAF, to understand our capacities, to understand where we are."
