Scolari named Brazil coach

Luiz Felipe Scolari has been appointed as the new coach of Brazil on a contract until the 2014 World Cup.

Scolari replaces Mano Menezes, who was sacked as national manager last Friday. The former Chelsea boss returns after previously leading Brazil to the 2002 World Cup.

Before the announcement of Scolari's appointment, CBF president Jose Maria Marin said on Wednesday: "We did a thorough evaluation and what we need is someone with the right skills, dedication and experience. I am absolutely certain that the fans will be happy with our choice.

"Pressure will be great at the World Cup, and that's understandable, and we need someone who can cope with that. We need everyone to get behind the new coach."

Scolari most recently managed Brazilian side Palmeiras.
