Norwich City denied victory by Bournemouth

Norwich City are held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth at Carrow Road.

Norwich City dropped points at home for the first time this season as they were held to a 1-1 draw by Bournemouth this afternoon.

Nonetheless, the home side started brightly and it took Lewis Grabban just a quarter of an hour to remind his old side of the predatory instincts which saw him score 22 goals for the Cherries last season.

England Under-21 international Nathan Redmond skipped away from his marker on the right wing and sent a cross into the box, where Grabban escaped his two markers and planted a header beyond the reach of his former teammate Lee Camp to make it 1-0 to Norwich.

Grabban, who already has five goals this season, looked full of confidence and sent a 20-yard effort just wide before Kyle Lafferty then hit a shot straight at Camp.

Norwich were by far the dominant side and Lafferty went close once more before the visitors hit the Canaries with a sucker punch.

In the second minute of first-half stoppage time, Simon Francis squared the ball to Wilson, who tapped home at the far post to make it 1-1.

The goal seemed to knock a little confidence out of the home side and Lafferty and Bradley Johnson both entered the book after the break as they struggled to contain Bournemouth's counter-attacks.

When Bournemouth did escape the attentions of Norwich's midfield, they were restricted to long-range efforts and Dan Gosling sent a shot straight down the throat of John Ruddy.

Norwich struggled to cut Bournemouth open in the second half and the one time that Grabban was released, his first touch was poor and the visitors were able to clear.

Marc Pugh had one of the better opportunities of the second period, but the midfielder fired his volley into the hands of Ruddy late on as both sides had to settle for a point.
