Eddie Howe: 'Bournemouth can seize chance to reach playoffs'

Eddie Howe insists that Bournemouth have not surprised him with their performances in recent weeks.

Eddie Howe has urged his Bournemouth side to take full advantage of the chance to reach the playoffs following the 3-1 victory over Reading on Tuesday night.

The Cherries are just two points outside the top six thanks to the win at Dean Court, and Howe refused to admit that he was surprised about his team's position in the Championship.

"I can believe we are here as I've seen how hard the lads have worked," the former Burnley manager told reporters.

"We didn't expect it but why not seize the moment and see where we can go?

"I know people will talk about the playoffs and I'm not stupid, I can see how many points we have and where we are in the league but it is in Reading's hands. If they win their five games, they are in it."

Bournemouth have now won eight of their previous 10 games.
