Bournemouth legend worried about Eddie Howe

Bournemouth legend Steve Fletcher had admitted that he is worried about the prospect of seeing manager Eddie Howe get prised away during the summer.

The Cherries sit on the cusp of Premier League promotion, with only defeat and a Middlesbrough win by 20 goals on the last day enough to see them finish outside the top two.

Howe, 38, has led them from the brink of exiting the Football League to a maiden top-flight adventure in the space of six years, but Fletcher worries that his heroics will attract bigger fish during the summer.

The 42-year-old, a former teammate of Howe's, told Perform: "Eddie is obviously going to be in demand, he will be a wanted man.

"We obviously hope he will stay here, you just never know it football and you can never say never. But he loves the club and it was his goal to get the club into the Premier League.

"He is the best young manager in England by a million miles and I will be praying he stays here, but you just never know."

Bournemouth, who face Charlton Athletic away on the final day, will win the title if they better Watford's result, with the already-promoted Hornets at home to Sheffield Wednesday.
