Bournemouth injury news: Andoni Iraola provides hopeful Alex Scott injury update ahead of Leicester clash

Iraola provides hopeful Scott injury update ahead of Leicester clash

Bournemouth head coach Andoni Iraola has revealed that Alex Scott could be available for Sunday's final Premier League game against Leicester City at the Vitality Stadium.

Scott was absent for Tuesday's 3-1 away defeat against Manchester City after he sustained a fractured jaw following a collision with Aston Villa defender Tyrone Mings in Bournemouth's most recent home outing.

However, the midfielder has been included in the England Under-21s training squad ahead of this summer's Under-21 European Championships.

Iraola has now confirmed that Scott has made progress and could potentially be available for Sunday's fixture, along with defender James Hill.

Iraola provides Scott injury update

"Alex Scott and James Hill could have a chance," Iraola told reporters in Friday's pre-match press conference.

"Alex with the mask has trained for the first day today. Probably not 100% comfortable, but he wants to try, and we will see tomorrow if he can deal with the mask and be comfortable.

"I think he is in a good mood and probably can give us a good hand. Also, it's important because we are quite thin in those positions in the middle.

"It's a full facemask. It looks cool! I think it has to be strange, I've never really played with a mask. He has trained today, looked fine. We will see. It's a matter of being comfortable with the mask, and we will see.

"I cannot guarantee because today is the first day he has had it, and he has trained with us, but I think he wants to give it a go, and it's much better if he's available."

Who will miss the meeting with Leicester?

Bournemouth know that they will definitely be without Lewis Cook's services after the midfielder was sent off in Tuesday's loss to Man City.

While Scott is suspended, the Cherries are also unable to call upon the injured quartet of Dango Ouattara, Ryan Christie, Luis Sinisterra and Enes Unal.

Bournemouth are out of the race for a top-eight finish and possible European qualification, but they could still finish in the top half of the table, with just one point separating them from the top 10.
