Blackpool's Paul Ince: 'We rode our luck'

Paul Ince admits that there was an element of fortune after seeing his Blackpool side beat Watford in the Championship.

Paul Ince has admitted that his Blackpool side were somewhat fortunate after beating Watford in the Championship this afternoon.

The Seasiders claimed victory at Bloomfield Road after Thomas Ince's goal in the last 10 minutes but where grateful to goalkeeper Matt Gilks, who saved Troy Deeney's first-half penalty.

"If it had been a boxing match it would have been all over at half time," Yahoo Sport quotes him as saying. "Watford were outstanding in the first half and if they had scored the penalty it would have been a different game.

"We rode our luck and sometimes you earn your luck. When you have central midfielders, one at right-back and the other at centre-half, you're going to ride your luck.

"Gilks made a fantastic save from a penalty. I couldn't wait to talk to them at half-time. We showed them too much respect."

Victory for Blackpool lifted them to the top of the Championship, level on points with Queens Park Rangers.
