Blackburn, Brentford play out draw

Blackburn Rovers and Brentford have shared the spoils in their Championship clash at Ewood Park as they played out a 1-1 draw.

Lee Carsley's men edged the opening stages of the match and despite the loss of Marco Djuricin to injury, they went ahead in the 24th minute through Lasse Vibe as his strike crept under Jason Steele and over the line.

The home side levelled in the 37th minute through Tom Lawrence when he collected a throw-in from Craig Conway and his left-footed strike from the edge of the area found the bottom corner.

Lawrence could have put Rovers ahead at the break when Ben Marshall played a through ball into his path, but Button made a fine save to tip his powerful strike off the post and wide.

The Bees almost took the lead in the early stages of the second half as Konstantin Kerschbaumer threaded a pass into the feet of Vibe, but Marc Duffy blocked his shot and Steele punched away the loose ball.

The home side had a good opportunity as Marc Duffy rose highest in the box to head Conway's cross at goal, but his effort drifted wide of the post.

Brentford threatened in an end-to-end game as Alan McCormack lined up a strike from distance, and his effort went inches past the post. The visitors went close again as Nico Yennaris found the run of Kerschbaumer, but his low strike was saved by Steele.

Button made a late save to deny Rovers the three points as he managed to get a hand to a powerful effort from Marshall to secure a point for Carsley's men.

The result leaves Rovers in 16th place in the Championship, while the Bees reside in 11th.
