Samba hit with driving ban

Former Blackburn Rovers defender Chris Samba has been banned from driving after he was caught doing more than 130mph on the M65 in October.

The 28-year-old, who now plays for Russian outfit Anzhi Makhachkala, pleaded guilty in a letter from his solicitors to speeding and was consequently banned for 12 months.

When asked why he was speeding, the Congolese defender reportedly stated: "I was going home."

Samba has also been fined £350, with £65 costs.
