Jack O'Connell given Blackburn Rovers deal

Hot prospect Jack O'Connell has reportedly signed a professional contract at Blackburn Rovers.

The highly-rated 18-year-old defender, who can operate centrally or at left-back, impressed for the Lancashire club's reserve side last season.

Blackburn fended off interest from some of the more illustrious sides in the North West to sign O'Connell on youth terms and they have now secured his long-term signature, according to Sky Sports News.

It is now believed that the player will feature in the club's first team next season.

O'Connell has represented England at Under-18 level.
