Blackburn Rovers' Rudy Gestede wins Championship Player of the Month

Blackburn Rovers striker Rudy Gestede has picked up the Championship Player of the Month award for April.

The 25-year-old has been rewarded for finding the back of the net six times from six starts in the league.

Gestede received particular plaudits for his hat-trick of headers in Blackburn's 4-2 victory over Birmingham City on April 21.

"Rudy has been a fantastic signing for us," said manager Gary Bowyer. "As a person, he is top class. He has played a massive part for the team with some very impressive performances. His goals have been the icing on the cake."

Blackburn are currently eighth in the league table.
