Gary Bowyer eases Lee Williamson's injury fears

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer plays down the severity of Lee Williamson's injury sustained against Fulham.

Blackburn Rovers boss Gary Bowyer has revealed that Lee Williamson bears no grudge towards Shaun Hutchinson after the Fulham defender was sent off for a poor challenge at the end of the first half.

The 23-year-old was given his marching orders as Rovers won 1-0 thanks to Jordan Rhodes's second-half goal.

Williamson was taken to hospital amid fears of a broken leg, but Bowyer has played down the severity of the injury.

He told the club's official website: "It isn't a break or anything like that and we're delighted that the players have won the game for him.

"[Hutchinson] isn't that type of player, he's apologised and we've no problem with that."

The win takes Blackburn up to ninth in the Championship.
