Half-Time Report: Wigan Athletic and Blackburn Rovers goalless at the break

Ivan Ramis missed a penalty as Wigan Athletic played out a goalless first half with Blackburn Rovers at Ewood Park.

Callum McManaman was brought down by the outstretched leg of Alex Baptiste, but Ramis blazed the resulting spot-kick high over the bar shortly before the break.

Earlier in the half, Latics midfielder Don Cowie tried his luck with a 20-yard volley on 19 minutes, but the former Cardiff City man's effort was too high.

Marcus Olsson played in a dangerous-looking cross on 25 yards, but Jordan Rhodes couldn't get on the end of it on 25 yards as Rovers searched for the opening goal.

Rudy Gestede headed over from Craig Conway's corner on 37 minutes, minutes before Ramis missed from the spot.
