Marlon King scores a hat-trick as Birmingham City come from three goals behind to earn a point against Millwall at The New Den.

A Marlon King hat-trick has earned Birmingham City a point against Millwall in a remarkable contest at The New Den.

The visitors were put on the back foot from the first whistle and fell behind in the 11th minute after a long throw found its way to Chris Wood at the back post and the striker made no mistake from close range.

Birmingham's defensive frailties were clear and indecision inside the box allowed Chris Taylor to double Millwall's lead just three minutes after Wood's opener.

The match looked to be over in the 18th minute when Liam Feeney's cross allowed Chris Wood to smash home his second of the game and extend the home side's lead further.

However, the visitors were given some hope on the stroke of half-time thanks to a goal from King following a tricky run from Leroy Lita.

Hopes of a Birmingham comeback were high just moments into the second period when King worked some space inside the box before firing into the bottom corner from eight yards.

Both sides pushed for more gaols but it was the visitors who found an equaliser through King, who collected a pass from David Murphy before finishing easily to complete his hat-trick.

Despite both sides pushing for a late winner, the points were shared in an enthralling Championship clash.
