Arjen Robben nears Bayern Munich extension

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben is close to agreeing a new contract with the German side, according to club director Christian Nerlinger.

Robben, 28, has been in devastating form in recent weeks, scoring seven goals and contributing four assists in his previous three games.

"We are well on our way. Arjen is his old self. We have always known quite clearly that we want to keep him," the 38-year-old told Bild.

Robben's current deal expires in 2013.
