Jerome Boateng trains with Bayern Munich

Jerome Boateng trained with Bayern Munich on Thursday, with the German now likely to remain at the Allianz Arena.

Boateng, 29, has been strongly linked with Manchester United in recent days, and it had been reported that the Germany international wanted to seal a move to Old Trafford on deadline day.

However, the experienced central defender reported for training with Bayern on Thursday, with a switch to the 20-time English champions now seemingly off the table.

United have also failed with a deadline-day swoop for Atletico Madrid's Diego Godin, and continue to be frustrated in their attempts to bring either Leicester City's Harry Maguire or Tottenham Hotspur's Toby Alderweireld to the club.

The Red Devils will open their 2018-19 Premier League campaign at home to Leicester on Friday night.
