Bayern to open contract talks with Guardiola

Bayern Munich chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge has revealed that the club is poised to open contract talks with Pep Guardiola at the end of the season.

The Bayern manager has been linked with a departure from the German champions, with just one year remaining on his contract at the Allianz Arena.

However, Remmenigge told Suddeutsche Zeitung: "It is no accident that Guardiola is one of the world's most coveted coaches. Don't forget that he has won five titles here in two years, which I believe is a club record.

"We have agreed that we will talk about his future in the second half of this year, which is how things still stand. And he knows my opinion, I want him to stay."

Guardiola took charge of Bayern in 2013 after a year's sabbatical following a four-season spell with Barcelona.
