Bayern Munich 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur: Highlights, man of the match stats as Harry Kane scores against former side

Brilliant Bayern Munich dominate sorry Spurs in resounding victory

Brilliant Bayern Munich dominated a sorry Tottenham Hotspur team on Thursday evening, with the German champions running out comfortable 4-0 victors.

Bayern Munich were in complete control from the outset, with Harry Kane scoring early against his former club before failing to add a second from the spot, but despite their dominance - demonstrated by taking 15 shots to Tottenham's two - Thomas Frank’s side were fortunate to be heading into the break still trailing by just one.

The German champions were dominant once again in the second half, but this time they were able to convert their chances as Kingsley Coman, Lennart Karl and Jonah Kusi-Asare all scored stunning strikes to make it 4-0 to Bayern Munich - marking a brilliant victory over a sorry Spurs side.

SPORTS MOLE'S VERDICT

The gulf in quality between the two sides was extremely apparent throughout the entire match, with Tottenham struggling to ever get out of their half, and that is something that Frank will certainly be hoping to quickly improve upon if they are to compete in the Champions League this season.

It could have been a much uglier scoreline if Bayern Munich were more clinical with their chances, as the German champions ended the match with a massive 26 shots compared to Tottenham's total of just seven, while numerous of their chances came from close range and really should have been converted.

Spurs did show more attacking intent in the second half, but they were still unable to truly challenge Bayern's defence - a sign that there may still be work needed in the transfer market before the Premier League season starts.

BAYERN MUNICH VS. TOTTENHAM HOTSPUR HIGHLIGHTS

12th min: Bayern Munich 1-0 Tottenham Hotspur (Harry Kane)

Bayern take an early lead - Olise and Kane that is absolutely brilliant!

Olise finds himself in a left-back position for Bayern Munich with plenty of time on the ball, and the midfielder picks out a sensational pass over the Spurs defence and to Kane inside the penalty area.

Kane's first touch shifts the ball from right foot to left, creating space for the striker to finish into the bottom left corner with his weaker foot.

61st min: Bayern Munich 2-0 Tottenham Hotspur (Kingsley Coman)

That is exceptional from Coman to double Bayern's lead!

Djed Spence is dispossessed by Konrad Laimer deep inside his own half, and the full back quickly gives the ball to Coman.

Coman gets inside the Spurs box, cuts onto his left foot and unleashes a stunning strike that soars past Guglielmo Vicario and into the top left corner.

75th min: Bayern Munich 3-0 Tottenham Hotspur (Lennart Karl)

Another stunning goal - this time from 17-year-old Karl!

Luis Diaz drives forward, into the Spurs box, cuts onto his right foot and lays the ball off to David Daiber just outside the Spurs penalty area.

Daiber takes his time on the ball and then passes to Karl, who curls a sublime, first-time effort perfectly into the bottom left corner.

80th min: Bayern Munich 4-0 Tottenham Hotspur (Jonah Kusi-Asare)

Bayern Munich can not stop scoring wondergoals - Kusi-Asare adds his name to the scoresheet!

Bayern Munich are looking to drive the ball into the penalty area and a tangle ensues as several players from both teams fight for the possession.

The ball eventually drops to Kusi-Asare on the left wing, and the 18-year-old fires a bending, looping effort past Vicario and into the top right corner.

MAN OF THE MATCH - HARRY KANE

A whole host of Bayern Munich players could have been awarded man of the match after an extremely dominant performance, but our pick of the bunch was former Spurs striker Kane.

Kane demonstrated his fantastic talent with a beautiful touch and finish to open the scoring, and while he did miss from the spot to double Bayern's lead, his overall play was wonderful today.

In typical Kane style, the striker dropped into deeper positions and was able to link play before driving forward, with this contributing to the striker creating the most chances of any player on the pitch with three.
