Bayern Munich's Arjen Robben claims he was bitten by a crocodile

Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben has offered a bizarre explanation for the hand injury he sustained at the team's training camp in Qatar, claiming that he was bitten by a crocodile.

A photograph of the Dutch international with his fingers bound in tape has appeared in the press, but his explanation is considered unlikely given that the aquatic reptiles are not native to the desert state.

"When I got a ball from a hole near the pool, a crocodile has bitten me," Bild quotes him as saying.

Bayern are yet to provide an official explanation for Robben's injury.
