Pep Guardiola has claimed that Bayern Munich were always in control as they started their Champions League campaign with a 3-0 victory over Olympiacos.
Thomas Muller opened the scoring with a miscued cross early in the second half, but the Bundesliga champions were unable to kill the game off until they struck twice in the closing stages of the Group F clash.
Despite protecting a slender advantage for long spells, Guardiola insists that Bayern were in charge of the match from the first whistle.
"The first match in the group stage is never easy," the Spaniard told reporters. "Olympiacos had not lost in six home games in European competition – and their opponents weren't easy. We controlled the game throughout and I have to give credit to my team. However, it was just the first step.
"I'm very pleased to be training this team. It's very difficult to win here – Atlético Madrid, among others, have lost here. I'm very pleased with all of the team."
Bayern return to Bundesliga action against SV Darmstadt 98 on Saturday.
