Roger Schmidt hails "extraordinary" Javier Hernandez

Bayer Leverkusen striker Javier Hernandez receives praise from head coach Roger Schmidt following his run of 10 goals in seven games.

Bayer Leverkusen head coach Roger Schmidt has praised the way that Javier Hernandez has adapted to life at the BayArena.

The Mexico international made the switch to the Bundesliga outfit during the summer from Manchester United, where he had been deemed surplus to requirements by Louis van Gaal.

However, Hernandez has since scored 12 goals in all competitions for Leverkusen, including 10 in his last seven outings.

Speaking after a brace from the 27-year-old had helped to secure a 3-1 win over Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday, Schmidt told reporters: "It does the team a lot of good to have a striker like Chicharito who scores regularly.

"He's integrated himself very well into our style of play. The fact he's scoring so often is extraordinary."

The goals against Frankfurt saw Hernandez become the first player from his country to have scored in seven consecutive games in a European league.
