Hyypia expresses sympathy for Leverkusen players

Bayer Leverkusen coach Sami Hyypia has expressed sympathy for his players following their 2-1 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 tie.

The former Liverpool player believes that his side deserved to get something from the match after dusting themselves off from a 4-0 drubbing in the first leg.

"I'm feeling a bit sorry for the team that we didn't get anything from the game," he said.

"The starting point was difficult after losing 4-0 at home but we can take a lot of confidence for the future."

Leverkusen took the lead through an early Sidney Sam goal in the second leg, but went on to lose it 2-1 after Marquinhos and Ezequiel Lavezzi found the net.
