Report: Barcelona failed with late Mateo Kovacic bid

Barcelona reportedly failed in a late move to sign Inter Milan midfielder Mateo Kovacic last night.

The 20-year-old is widely regarded as one of the best young attackers in European football and has been interesting a number of top-level clubs.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Barca made their interest official late last night, but Inter turned down the approach from the Spanish outfit.

Kovacic has a contract with Inter until 2017.
