Barcelona transfer news: Catalan giants eyeing '£44m move' for electric forward who could replace Marcus Rashford

Rashford alternative: Barcelona eyeing '£44m summer move' for electric forward

Barcelona are reportedly considering making a spectacular move for Borussia Dortmund attacker Karim Adeyemi during this summer's transfer window.

The 24-year-old's future is currently the subject of much speculation, with a number of clubs said to be keeping a close eye on his situation at Dortmund.

Towards the end of last year, there was believed to be interest from Manchester United, but according to reports in Spain, Barcelona are now leading contenders for his signature.

Dortmund are believed to be ready to let Adeyemi leave for €50m (£44m) this summer, representing a potential bargain considering the current market.

Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is said to be a huge admirer of the Germany international, who has scored nine goals and registered five assists in 36 appearances for BVB this term.

Adeyemi has six goals and three assists in 25 Bundesliga matches this season, while he managed three goals and two assists in nine outings in the Champions League before the team were knocked out of the competition by Atalanta BC.

The forward arrived at Dortmund from Red Bull Salzburg in 2022, and he has represented his current side on 143 occasions, scoring 35 goals and registering 24 assists.

Chelsea were linked with Adeyemi last summer, and it remains to be seen whether the Blues reignite their interest at the end of the campaign.

Adeyemi primarily operates as a right-sided attacker, but he is also capable of featuring through the middle, making him a very interesting option for Barcelona.

Lewandowski, Rashford could leave Barcelona this summer

The Catalan outfit are facing big decisions in the final third of the field, with a permanent deal for on-loan Manchester United attacker Marcus Rashford far from certain.

Robert Lewandowski's contract is due to expire at the end of the season, and as it stands, the Poland international will be leaving on a free transfer.

Meanwhile, there is uncertainty surrounding the future of Ferran Torres, with Barcelona thought to be open to selling the Spain international for the right price.
