Javier Mascherano reveals that he is open to leaving Barcelona this summer if he is not wanted by the club.

Javier Mascherano has revealed that he is open to leaving Barcelona this summer if he is no longer wanted at Camp Nou.

The 29-year-old's future with the Spanish champions is up in the air, with Mascherano suggesting that new head coach Gerardo Martino may not be keen on keeping hold of the Argentine.

"You never know," Mascherano told El Pais. "In football, you have to be prepared for anything. There were calls from somewhere else, but no offers.

"The question is whether you now fight in the same circumstances, as I have always had to win my starting place throughout my career. It's as it should be. If Barca tell me they don't need me, I will be off within a minute."

Mascherano signed for Barcelona from Liverpool in 2010.
