Lionel Messi's father dismisses talk of PSG move

Talk of Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi joining Paris Saint-Germain is "fake news", according to the player's agent and father Jorge.

Messi expressed his desire to leave Camp Nou at the end of last season, only for Barca to block his exit by questioning the validity of a release clause in his contract.

The Argentina international is free to leave the club next summer, however, and ESPN reported on Tuesday that negotiations are already underway over a move to PSG.

Jorge strongly refuted that speculation on social media, however, as he took to Instagram to post: "Stop inventing! #Fakenews," over a screenshot of the transfer rumour.

According to reports from Spain, Messi's future may now depend on whom the Blaugrana appoint as their new president in next month's elections following Josep Maria Bartomeu's exit.

Manchester City have also been tipped to move for the 33-year-old, who is currently away on international duty with Argentina.
