Junior Firpo vows to prove his worth for Barcelona after a tough first season at the club.

Barcelona defender Junior Firpo has insisted that he will come good for the Spanish champions.

The 23-year-old joined Barca from Real Betis in last summer's transfer window and has made 17 appearances during the current season, contributing one goal and one assist in the process.

There is already speculation surrounding the left-back's future, though, with Barca allegedly considering using him as a makeweight in a move for Inter Milan's Lautaro Martinez.

Quique Setien's side, meanwhile, are thought to be lining up Borussia Dortmund's Raphael Guerreiro as a potential replacement for the former Spain Under-21 international.

Firpo, though, has vowed to prove his worth for Barca as time progresses.

"This season has not been easy for me, I had a small injury when I was in my best form too," Firpo told Marca. "I always want to be positive, I come to a new club and a new city with great players, I am in the adaptation period.

"I really want to go back to training and play. I want to show I am the player that I really am and for the reason why I signed, which has not yet been shown."

Firpo has made 12 La Liga outings during the current season, while he has also featured on three occasions in the Champions League.
