Iniesta praises Martino

Barcelona midfielder Andres Iniesta has claimed that Gerardo Martino is the 'best coach in the world.'

The Argentine, who took charge of the Catalan outfit last summer, has been widely criticised for a perceived change of playing style this season.

However, Iniesta has insisted that the players are behind their manager and said that he would be "delighted" if Martino stayed beyond the summer.

"For me, the coach that we have now is the best," Iniesta told Diario Ole.

"Also, I would be delighted if he stayed here for longer and showed everyone what he can do. The first year is a difficult one for everyone. I have always seen him with the desire and determination needed. He always believes in our chances.

"Things don't always go how you want them to, but you have to try. The world of Barcelona is always difficult, not just for him, but for everyone and for us players as well. There is a constant high demand and you have to be ready for it."

Should Martino depart, former Barcelona midfielder Luis Enrique, who is currently in charge of Celta Vigo, is the favourite to take charge at the Camp Nou.
