Dani Alves wanted Barcelona to deny rumours of him leaving

Barcelona full-back Dani Alves has said that he was disappointed that Barcelona did not deny speculation linking him with a move away from the club.

Reports earlier in the summer linked Alves with a move to Manchester City but the club did not move to deny this, and they player says that he was "upset" by the club's silence.

"It's true that there were rumours that I would not be staying at Barca and I was upset that the club did not intervene," Alves said.

"However, I am above that sort of thing and if the time comes when the club decide they don't need me, I will just have to accept it."

Alves has been at Barcelona for four years.
