Player Ratings: APOEL 0-4 Barcelona

Barcelona cruised to a 4-0 win over APOEL to keep their chances of finishing top of Group F in the Champions League alive this evening.

Lionel Messi became the competition's all-time leading goalscorer, netting a hat-trick, while Luis Suarez scored his first goal for the club.

The result leaves the team one point behind Paris Saint-Germain, who they play in their final group game next month.

APOEL

Goal

Urko Pardo: The former Barcelona academy goalkeeper made a few good saves against his former club, but could do little about the shots that did find the back of the net. (4/10)

Defence

Joao Guilherme: The left-back was strong in the first half, making several crucial blocks to prevent the visitors from breaking the deadlock in the opening 25 minutes, but frustration got the better of him after the break as he picked up two yellow cards to secure an early exit. (4/10)

Carlao: The defender made at least one vital stop, taking the ball off the head of Luis Suarez to prevent the striker from heading in at the near post, but did give away a few free kicks. (6/10)

Marios Antoniades: Antoniades did not see too much action in the centre as Barcelona started most of their attacks out wide, but could have done better when Rafinfa fired the ball in for Messi's first goal. (5/10)

Mario Sergio: Sergio was pretty quiet at the back, but did have one of the home side's three shots, getting forward in the second half while APOEL had a man advantage. (6/10)

Midfield

Tiago Gomes: The midfielder won the ball back a couple of times for the hosts, but struggled to maintain possession. (5/10)

Vinicius: Vinicius was fairly anonymous, winning a few free kicks but failing to put Barcelona under any pressure before being substituted with 15 minutes still to play. (2/10)

Nuno Morais: Morais tried to get forward a bit early on while APOEL were still on level terms, but found himself dropping back to help out the defence for much of the match. (4/10)

Efstathios Aloneftis: The defensive midfielder was actually the team's liveliest player going forward in the first half, but was taken off at half time. (4/10)

Attack

Cillian Sheridan: The striker looked lively early on as the hosts tried to get forward, but once Barcelona were ahead he saw little service. (3/10)

Gustavo Manduca: Manduca tried to get a shot away early on, but struggled to keep up in the second half and had little impact before being substituted with 30 minutes to play. (3/10)

Substitutes

Georgios Efrem: The midfielder replaced Aloneftis at the break, and actually showed some pace going forward, but was flagged offside while trying to get a goal back. (5/10)

Tomas de Vincenti: Brought on while Barcelona were a man down, the striker had the best chance of the game for APOEL, forcing a solid save from Marc-Andre ter Stegen. (6/10)

Rafik Djebbour: The striker came on late on to try to get a goal back for the hosts, but he could not get a shot away before the end of the match. (3/10)

BARCELONA

Goal

Marc-Andre ter Stegen: The keeper only had one save to make, which he did, although he also came off his line to claim a cross in an otherwise quiet match between the posts. (5/10)

Defence

Gerard Pique: The defender did not come under pressure much at the back, but did stop Aloneftis getting a cross in during the first half. (6/10)

Marc Bartra: Bartra stayed back for much of the match while his defensive colleagues got forward more often, but he did help restrict the number of opportunities that APOEL saw. (5/10)

Jordi Alba: Alba played more like a winger than a defender, showing his pace down the flanks while also providing several crosses and taking on a couple of shots. (7/10)

Dani Alves: Alves also played a more attacking role, teaming up with Messi and Suarez in the first half, although he did waste a couple of decent chances with some hurried finishes. Alves did get booked though, which rules him out of their next Champions League match. (6/10)

Midfield

Ivan Rakitic: Rakitic was workmanlike providing service for the strikers, as well as firing in numerous free kicks and corners before being substituted once the win was all but secured. (8/10)

Rafinha: Rafinha looked dangerous on the left wing in the first half, and set up Messi's first goal, but a clumsy challenge when he had already been booked saw him sent off, which leaves him suspended for the final group match. (6/10)

Javier Mascherano: Starting the night as the holding midfielder, Mascherano did start getting forward more in the second half as there was little to defend, but he did not add much to the attack. (4/10)

Attack

Pedro: Pedro did not have the same impact as Messi or Suarez, but he did provide the assist for Messi's third, and could have added his own late on, but he fired just wide. (7/10)

Luis Suarez: The Uruguayan marked the game with his first goal in a Barcelona shirt, opening the scoring after 27 minutes. He could have had more, but Pardo kept a couple of his efforts out, and he was closely marked after the break. (8/10)

Lionel Messi: The record-breaker was the best player from the start, creating numerous chances for his teammates before finding the back of the net three times with some clinical finishing. (9/10)

Substitutes

Adriano: The defender replaced Alba with around 30 minutes to play, but did not come under too much pressure at the back. (3/10)

Xavi: The midfielder took over from Rakitic in the 62nd minute, and set up Messi's third goal with some superb footwork on the edge of the area. (7/10)

Sergio Busquets: Busquets replaced Suarez with just over 10 minutes to play, and got forward a couple of times before the end of the match, but could not set up a goal. (4/10)
