Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp reveals that he thought Roma's win over Barcelona was a "joke" when he first found out about the result.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has revealed that he thought Roma's win over Barcelona was a "joke" when he first found out about the result.

The Italian outfit came back from three goals down to shock their Spanish counterparts and reach the semi-finals of the Champions League first time since 1984, with goals coming from Edin Dzeko, Daniele De Rossi and Kostas Manolas.

Klopp, whose side defeated Manchester City in their tie, said that while he knew Roma's result was possible, the German did not expect the comeback by the Serie A team.

"I walked up the stairs and someone told me. I thought it was a joke," the manager told The Mirror. "Not that I don't respect Roma, they are fantastic team.

"I just wasn't expecting it, but knew it was possible. They lost Mo Salah and they are in the semis - it's a big thing! This competition is quite fair and I really think a normal final would have been Manchester City against Barcelona, and now they are both out.

"But there will still be two other really strong teams in there plus Roma and us. We will see what happens but that's not the thing I have to think about right now."

Liverpool will find out their opponents when the draw takes place at 12pm on Friday.
