Atletico Madrid target Diego

Atletico Madrid manager Diego Simeone has admitted that Wolfsburg midfielder Diego is the only player that the club are trying to sign this summer.

The capital club have a heavy transfer budget to spend this year following the big-money departure of Radamel Falcao to Monaco, and have made the Brazilian their sole target.

Diego, who previously played for Atletico on loan in the 2011-2012 season, is also keen on a move to the Vicente Calderon.

"Diego is the only player that I have asked the club to sign and I know how hard we are trying to do that," Simeone told AS.

"I also understand the effort Diego is making to come here. We are close and I hope that he will join."

Diego has 33 caps for Brazil.
