Diego Simeone praises his "extraordinary" Atletico Madrid squad

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone lavishes praise upon his "extraordinary" squad after their hard-fought 1-0 victory over Espanyol in La Liga on Saturday.

Atletico Madrid coach Diego Simeone has described his squad as "extraordinary" after they eked out a 1-0 win over Espanyol on Saturday.

Atleti struggled against Espanyol after their midweek Champions League exploits, but they managed to claim all three points.

"We were not accurate in the first half and we weren't fast enough, or playing between the lines," the Argentine manager told reporters.

"The players are doing something extraordinary. I am speechless because they do their best to find results. I have admiration for this group of players."

Simeone's side sit three points behind rivals Real Madrid in La Liga.
