Diego Simeone: 'Diego gives us different option'

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone says that Diego will prove invaluable for the Spanish side in the latter stages of the season.

Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone believes that on-loan midfielder Diego will prove invaluable in the latter stages of the campaign.

The Brazilian, who joined on loan from Wolfsburg in January, has impressed for the Spanish side in recent matches, with his style complementing others, according to Simeone.

"With Diego we won the Europa League and had a superb second half to that season, but this team is very competitive," the Argentine told reporters.

"There's Raul [Garcia], [David] Villa, Koke, Arda [Turan], but the arrival of Diego gives us the possibility of balancing different ways of attacking. The team doesn't just have one way of doing that."

Atletico are in last-16 Champions League action against AC Milan on Wednesday.
