Former Athletic Bilbao president Jose Maria Arrate is disappointed with Fernando Llorente's decision not to renew his current contract.

Former Athletic Bilbao president Jose Maria Arrate has expressed his disappointment at striker Fernando Llorente's decision not to renew his current contract with the Spanish club.

Llorente's current deal runs out at the end of the 2012-13 season and the Spain international has already said that he will not extend it.

This has led to speculation over the 27-year-old's future this summer and Arrate to concede his disappointment.

"The player's position is of someone who wants nothing to do with Athletic," he said. "You can see that he has not learned anything about the club whilst he has been with Bilbao.

"I am disappointed. I thought he was going to realise what the club has done for him."

Bilbao will begin their 2012-13 Primera Liga campaign with a home game against Real Betis on Sunday, August 19.
